Linkys - It's a whole new language!

The lovely Kate from Kate Takes 5 has given me some blogging advice (not all of which I understand yet!). One piece of advice is to do some 'linkys'.  So here I am joining in with Ghostwriter Mummy's Friday Facebook linky, pretending I know what I'm doing, and hoping I get this right!

This is for bloggers on Facebook to get to know each other and show support and, believe me, I really need that right now because my Facebook page is looking very lonely.

All words of encouragement greatly received!

Dear Diary...

OK, deep breath.. here goes!  My very first blog post... (and once I'm no longer a blog post virgin, it gets easier? right?!)

So I've read guides on setting up a blog, I've read top tips from other bloggers and got side-tracked with reading some excellent blogs along the way... I've chosen where my blog is going to live, I've chosen a name and a description, I've played with templates and font types and colours and gadgets (for way longer than I care to admit!) and now I can't put it off any longer, I actually have to write the first post.

Why am I doing this? As someone who works mainly online, I can't fail to have noticed how mummy-blogging is becoming a really big thing so I thought there was no better way to find out all about it than to set up my own blog.  As a child, I kept a diary religiously for most of my teenage years.  Although they would probably be incredibly painful to read back on now (I threw them out in my last de-cluttering house move) at the time, they were my release for all that teenage angst.  So twenty-something years later and I'm going to give this modern day version of a diary for mums a go...

Do I have time to write a blog? Of course I don't!  But I'm not going to let that stop me!

And why anonymously you may ask? A very good question.  Firstly may I say that I have nothing to hide, I really don't, but I want somewhere where I can pretty much write what I want without being judged or without my comments being taken the wrong way.  You know what it's like when you go to put a comment on your facebook status about how much someone at work has annoyed you, and then you remember that half your colleagues and your boss are all your facebook friends!  Or when you want to vent about the playground politics that your children are going through (but can't do that with so many school-mums on your facebook either). Yes, if someone who knows me in real life really tried, I'm sure I could be identified through this blog.  But they'll never really know for sure that it's me... will they ;-)

So welcome to my blog, I hope you will enjoy it. Please do post any tips below ... and I'm off to try and find out what to do next!!!!
